Constructing an independent knowledge system for the discipline of ideological and political education is both an expression of the discipline's own consciousness in responding to the need to bring out its full potential, and an important part of the practice of accelerating the development of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. Around this proposition, the academic community currently presents an overall trend marked by a notable rise in disciplinary consciousness together with the acrosstheboard advance of system construction, the initial formation of a genealogy of concepts together with multidimensional theoretical interpretation, the extensive tapping of resources of all kinds together with a conscious search for cultural roots, the increasingly clear disciplinary boundaries together with the prudent absorption of interdisciplinary resources, and the simultaneous advance of scholarly construction and practical translation. At the level of core issues, researchers have focused on six areas, i.e. examining the disciplines scholarly foundations, clarifying its value implications, reflecting on its essential attributes, analyzing its complex structure, exploring its inner logic, and investigating pathways for its construction, which together define the central problematic of current research. Yet alongside this marked progress, existing research also faces deepseated bottlenecks, including the pressing need to improve the efficiency of knowledge production within the discipline, the insufficient integration of macrolevel structuring with microlevel analysis, the limited depth in uncovering the underlying principles of construction, and the lack of organized collaboration among knowledge producers. To accelerate the advancement toward a systematic and comprehensive independent knowledge system for the discipline of ideological and political education, it is imperative to adopt holistic thinking, raise disciplinary awareness, adhere to a problem-oriented approach, maintain a creative attitude, and strengthen the building of the academic community, so as to consciously contribute disciplinary wisdom to the process of building a system of knowledge in philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, Chinese style, and Chinese ethos.
