On the Prospect of East Asian Order Construction

East Asian order is sliced in political, economic and security domains, and there are different perspectives on its construction Since 2010, US rebalance strategy has led to changes of the regional situation, which challenges ASEAN's leading role in East Asian economic cooperation, while Japan becomes regional troublemaker, and China enters into awaiting and strategic breakthrough period, East Asia order is in flux This paper suggests that some fundamental conditions for the establishment of East Asian order have emerged gradually The main features of current East Asian order are as follows: open, penetrable, mixed with bilateralism and multilateralism, with low level of institutionalism, with checks and balance among regional powers, etc Meanwhile, great economic gap are still existed among East Asian countries, political development is unbalanced and strategic trust still lacks The main path of constructing East Asian order should be, go beyond functional cooperation, and actively promote the institutional building, meanwhile properly handle their differences
