Ten Theoretical Issues in Localization of Marxism in China YANG Rui-sen 2010, (9):  5-14.  DOI: Abstract ( )   PDF (2408KB) ( )   The issue of localization of Marxism in China is related to Marxist theory,history and socialism.Thus it involves various disciplines in philosophy and social sciences,covering all the theories and activities of the Chinese communists.In recent years,the study of localization of Marxism in China has drawn much attention in the academic circle,resulting in many heated discussions.However,consensuses have not been reached on certain major theoretical issues,and more profound studies are needed to further probe into these theoretical problems for accurate understanding.These issues are as follows: the theoretical premise of localization of Marxism in China,definition and connotation of localization of Marxism in China,the relationship between localization of Marxism and promotion of excellent traditional Chinese culture,fundamental problems and experiences of localization of Marxism in China,inheriting and developing the good tradition of localizing Marxism,the relationship of the "two 30-year periods" after the founding of new China,validation of the evaluation of the historical position of Mao Zedong thought as explained in the "Resolution",emancipation of the mind and theoretical innovation,and localization of Marxism in China with respect to ideological and political education in Chinese universities. Employment,Strategic Orientation and Policy Options during the Twelfth Five-year Plan Period YANG Wei-guo, CHEN Yu-jie 2010, (9):  22-30.  DOI: Abstract ( )   PDF (2966KB) ( )   During the Twelfth Five-year Plan period,the contradiction of total labor supply exceeding demand still poses a major problem,and insufficient employability is becoming increasingly serious.Therefore,more priority should be put on the issue of employment strategy.On the basis of an analysis of China’s economic development and the labor market during the Twelfth Five-year Plan period,three basic principles of employment strategies are proposed.The principles are as follows: the governance strategy should be embodied,the economic development model should be supported,and the needs of the labor market should be met.In light of these principles,the authors suggest that during the Twelfth Five-year Plan period priority should be put on the employment policies. On the Philosophical Meaning of Virtual Practice SUN Wei-ping 2010, (9):  31-36.  DOI: Abstract ( )   PDF (1801KB) ( )   Virtual practice refers to the two-way object-oriented perceptual activity between the subject and a virtual object by means of digital media in the virtual space to fulfill certain purposes.It is intentional,conscious and dynamic objective activity meant to explore and improve the virtual object and to upgrade and improve human beings themselves.This newly arising form of practice has been promoted by the contemporary technological revolution.Virtual practice differs tremendously from the traditional practice due to its nature of virtual reality,real-time interaction,being free and open,transcending reality,and autonomous creativity.The rise and extensive application of virtual practice breaks the boundary between the virtual and the real or that of the traditional Chinese knowing and acting,and expands the scope of human practice in a revolutionary way,making Man’s competency of practice immensely upgraded. Citizenship and National Identity From the Perspective of Multinational State MO Hong-mei 2010, (9):  37-43.  DOI: Abstract ( )   PDF (1358KB) ( )   Citizenship and national identity represent a higher-level awareness of civilization.Citizenship reflects the state property,and recognition of citizenship is an expression of national identity.National identity is a higher-level identity that transcends other types of identity.So,efforts should be made for a citizen in a multinational state to coordinate and unify three identities,namely,the identity in one’s own national group,citizenship,and national identity through citizen education.Not only should the sense of national identity and being a master of the state be effectively aroused,but also the tradition,history and culture of minority national groups should be protected and reserved.Correct understanding of citizenship and national identity may contribute to social stability.This is of great significance in maintaining national unification and strengthening the cohesion of the Chinese nation. Alternative Economics:A Modern Angle for Understanding Capitalism——A Review of "Understanding Capitalism:Competition,Command,and Change" ZHANG Xian, ZHUANG Zhi-hui 2010, (9):  55-60.  DOI: Abstract ( )   PDF (1346KB) ( )   The neoclassical economics has simplified capitalism to a relation of horizontal competition in the market.Through criticism of the key assumption of neoclassical economics,the authors of Understanding Capitalism established a three-dimension economics as an alternative of the mainstream economics by adding two extra dimensions,namely,the hierarchical command dimension within the firm,and the dimension of historical and institutional change.This means a return of economic analysis to the tradition of political economics.The book does not just present a profound criticism of the neoclassical economics.Instead,it maintains communication with it.In the book are both adherence to Marxist tradition and important modification and development of Marxism.It provides a modern angle to understand capitalism.However,the book seems to have avoided the labor theory of value,which might bring about negative effect to a certain extent. An Important Coursebook Reform in Political Economics——A Review of "Understanding Capitalism:Competition,Command,and Change" JIA Gen-liang 2010, (9):  61-65.  DOI: Abstract ( )   PDF (1166KB) ( )   "Understanding Capitalism: Competition,Command,and Change" offers insightful implications for the coursebook and teaching reforms of political economics.Compilation of this book is problem-oriented with proper level of abstract thinking,which can easily motivate the students to learn this course.As an introductory work of economics it employs a three-dimensional writing system which shows an obvious advantage over the one-dimension coursebook of economics published in the west in guiding the beginners to understand the complicated reality of the world.The book adheres to Marxist tradition of analysis and adopts a pluralist view point by drawing on study results of western economics.Nevertheless,there is also room for improvement.For instance,more attention should be directed to financial capital,innovation and imperialism. Evaluation of the Value of UN and Value Integration LI Dong-yan 2010, (9):  66-74.  DOI: Abstract ( )   PDF (3007KB) ( )   In all the documents of UN,including the United Nations Charter,are value principles on international relations.The UN Millennium Declaration and the 2005 United Nations World Summit "outcome document" proposed some "indispensable shared basic values".This paper defines these as the UN value.The author holds that the UN value is different from the universal values,the western value or the global value.The UN value is the result of seeking common ground through coordination,cooperation and compromises in terms of values and interests among various member states.To the member states,the UN value is formal,popular and of guiding significance.On the other hand,it is also full of diversity and conflicts.UN can play a positive role in integrating the world values,but this role can be very much limited.In other words,the value of UN is to present to the member states minimum value identity.
