    Abstract ( )   PDF (1075KB) ( )

Academic and Realistic Features: the Dual Dimension and Their Integration in Marxism Studies
    HU Liu
    2007, (8):  47-53.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (2311KB) ( )
The issue of the academic and realistic features of Marxism studies and integration of the two has long been a bottleneck problem in Marxism studies. This can be traced back to the failure to effectively distinguish the theoretical quality of Marxism, especially in relation to the so-called philosophy. The philosophical view of Marx shows that Marxism not only maintains the dual dimension of being both academic and realistic, but also accomplishes integration of the two.Hence only by observing the internal regulations of the philosophical view of Marx can Marxism studies be expanded to show its theoretical charm in modern times.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (1321KB) ( )
The issue of modernity is a difficult focus in the current literature. The author points out that Marx had established his own unique perspective of modern thought.Recent studies of Marx’s modern thought by Chinese philosophers involve the following themes: 1,if Marx has formed modern thought and if so,what is the source of his modern thought;2,the dimensions and contents of Marx’s modern thought;3,the historical development course of Marx’s modern thought;and 4,relevance of Marx’s modern thought to construction of Chinese modernity. The author maintains that extended and in-depth studies of Marx’s modern thought is both the needs of Marxism studies, and the demand of constructing modernity in China today.

Human Beings Are Integration of Purpose and Means
    DENG Cui-hua
    2007, (8):  88-93.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1032KB) ( )
Purpose and means is a pair of philosophical concepts with a long history whose integration is of great significance in modern China. To adhere to this idea we should constantly stick to the recognition that man represents the integration of purpose and means. With respect to material, man is the purpose, not the means.Man does not function as the means even in the process of producing materials to meet the needs of man.On the other hand, with respect to man, others, and the society, man represents both the purpose and the means.Man is the force that actualizes his own purpose. However,it is necessary to distinguish man as the means and material as the means. The author concludes that adhering to the understanding that man is integration of the purpose and the means is of tremendous significance in observing the people-oriented principle in the course of social development.
