Characteristics of the Paradigm of Marxist Economics——With Respect to Post-modernist Marxist Economic Paradigm
    ZHU Kui
    2007, (5):  24-28.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (644KB) ( )
The author holds that the concept of paradigm helps define Marxist economics. It shows what Marxist economics is and what its internal mechanism and motive for perfection and development are like.Post-modernist Marxist economics, denies the basis of logical analysis of Marxist economics, that is,methodology of historical materialism and value of labor. For this reason,post-modernist Marxist economics is criticized for having abandoned the core of Marxist economic paradigm. The author emphasizes that while the conceptual paradigm of Marxist economics should be adhered to,operation of the paradigm needs further perfection and even adjustment along with the theoretical development and with the passage of time. This is mainly reflected in specific methodology and particular propositions, though.

An Analysis of Marxist Theory of Endogenous Money
    WANG Lu
    2007, (5):  29-35.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (972KB) ( )
In the history of studies on economics the controversies over the issue of money have been given rise to by the traditional dichotomy method which long emphasized real economy in economics. The mainstream economics can only consider money as cash in the theory of Walrus’s general equilibrium because of the hypothesis of exogenous money supply. This has resulted in the consequent logical criticism in the Cambridge Capital Controversies in the 1950s and 1960s.Publication of the work "The General Theory of Employment Interest and Money" signals Keynes’ intention to refute the dichotomy analysis method and break off from the neo-classical analysis method of real objects. However, because of the lack of a theoretical foundation in value and distribution theories,he was unable to establish a productive theory of monetary economy.By contrast, based on the labor theory of value Marxian economics has generated the theory of endogenous money that took the relations of capitalist economy or market economy as the foundation of analysis by integrating the theories of value and money.

Interpretation of Marxist Theories of Wage and Unemployment by Modern Economics
    GUO Ji-qiang
    2007, (5):  36-43.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1188KB) ( )
According to Marxist theory of wage and unemployment, the worker’s wage under the capitalist system tends to be the lowest(the minimum of the value of labor),and the problem of unemployment is constant. This is in fact a common phenomenon of economic operation often found in descriptions of the countries at the early stage of industrialization and developing countries as well. This paper presents a model of wage and employment based on a down ward-sloping labor supply curve, and attempts to explain this phenomenon in the light of modern economics. The author also tries to apply relevant ideas initiated by Marx into the modern economic context with intent to improve this phenomenon.

Dialectical Materialism as Scientific Concept of Development by Lenin
    YI Jie-xiong
    2007, (5):  51-55.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (946KB) ( )
In Lenin’s opinion, the scientific concept of development is expressed by dialectical materialist methodology and world outlook. The criterion for being scientific lies in the recognition that the internal contradiction is the source of development, the recognition of the fact that in the course of development are not only quantitative measure of changes, but also interruption in the gradual development, sudden changes, and qualitative measures of the changes. The principles of scientific concept of development applies to human society as well as nature and human recognition.Lenin’s idea of dialectical materialism, that is,Marxist philosophy as scientific concept of development,is mainly recorded in eight notebooks of his when he stayed in the city of Bern in Swiss and concentrated on studies of philosophy in 1914 and 1915.

Issues on the Teaching Methods of “A Survey of the Chinese Modern and Contemporary History”
    ZHU Zhi-min
    2007, (5):  61-66.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1027KB) ( )
The principle of teaching the historical logic is a distinctive feature of university history class, which is a criterion to distinguish the university course "A Survey of Chinese Modern and Contemporary History" from the middle school course "History of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History".This principle also serves for two other purposes. One is to function as a link between these two courses, the other is to avoid repeating some of the contents in the course "A Survey of Important Theories of Mao Zedong Thought,Deng Xiaoping Theory, and Three Represents",since the latter emphasizes on "teaching the theoretical logic".The author concludes that explaining the historical logic by historical facts is an effective way to improve the quality of the course.

An Analysis of the American-Indian Relation and Its Influence on China
    WEI Ling
    2007, (5):  67-72.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1204KB) ( )
In recent years, the American-Indian relation has been continuously improved. For the United States, cooperation with India is of strategic significance to maintaining the American interest in politics, economy and security in Asian. For India, this relation may lead to improved economic and military strength, increasing influence on international affairs, and thus move closer to its goal of becoming a big power in Asian and, hopefully,in the world.India also expects that this relation will mean added advantages in its relation with China. However, even though the American-Indian relation has been strengthened, the goals the two countries aim at are conflicting, the United States striving for a leading position in its global strategy and India aiming at a big power in the world. The American-Indian relation is after all one of mutual cooperation and competition, each side taking advantage of the other.Consequently, the effect of their cooperation is restricted.Given the impact China’s rising has on the two countries, neither will improve the American-Indian relation at the expense of developing relation with China.

The Level of Institutional Analysis and the Study of International Institutions
    TIAN Ye
    2007, (5):  82-87.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1093KB) ( )
The theories of new institutionalism in economics and political science usually focus on a particular institutional level and take a higher institutional level as given. From the commonly accepted view about levels of international institutions, constitutive institutions are higher than regulative institutions, and general institutions are higher than specific institutions. This perspective of classifying different institutional levels sheds light on our understanding of the contestation between neoliberal institutionalism and constructivism in the study of international institutions.
