    JIANG Yong-mu, DAI Zhong-liang
    2005, (10):  22-29.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1109KB) ( )
In the process of economic development in both the urban and rural areas, people tend to stress the dual economic structure of urban and rural areas while neglect the dual economic structure within the rural area. The author observes that there exists a system of double dual structure composed of two dual economic structures: the one of urban and rural areas combined, and the one within the rural area.In fact, this is an important feature of the Chinese economy now.The author points out that the intensification effect and rebound effect between the two dual structures determine and restrict the development of China’s dual economic structure. In line with this observation, the author puts forward suggestions for policy making concerning the development of urban and rural areas as a whole within this system of double dual economic structure.

State sovereignty has been a recurrent theme among researchers. The author holds that only by a diachronic exploration of changes of sovereignty from an institutional perspective can we expect to grasp the future trend of sovereignty.Viewed in this way, state sovereignty is but an aspect of institutional sovereignty within the famework of modern states. With the progress of globalization and changes of social conditions, reformation of sovereignty is inevitable. The author concludes that reformation of sovereignty depends on an interactive process of various relations such as state sovereignty and people sovereignty, sovereignty shared among different nations, state sovereignty and autonomy of market economy, state sovereignty and social society autonomy, state sovereignty and sub-state autonomy and so on.A general framework of future sovereignty will take shape in this interactive process.

Linkage between Civil Society and Modernity Seen by Marx
    XING Rong
    2005, (10):  50-56.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1238KB) ( )
The civil society is an important basis on which Marx developed his theory of modernity.Marx explained that it was the separation of modern state and civil society that marked the establishment of modernity.Analyzing the economy of the civil society,Marx claimed that the civil society was a real field of practice for modernity to develop.A thorough investigation of the civil society enabled Marx to discover its limitations and contradictions. It is in the light of this discovery that Marx put forward the ideal of communism, which transcended the civil society, and moved from political emancipation to emancipation of mankind.Hence, civil society was seen by Marx as the basis of self-criticism and transcending of modernity.
