Proper Understanding of Modernity of Marxist Philosphy
    MA Jun-feng
    2005, (9):  5-9.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (579KB) ( )
Modernity of Marxist philosophy has been developed during the process of successive reconstructions on the basis of its revolutionary reform. Originated from and deeply rooted in Marx’ ideas, Marxist philosophy is a school of philosophy with constant evolution and changes, resulting in a theoretical frame with diversified ideas. In this sense, Marxist philosophy enjoys a wider perspective and historical rationality than philosophy of Marx. It also fits better into the modern society. The author suggests that it is of significance to establish a league of Marxist philosophy, seeking common ground while reserving differences so as to promote more prosperous development of Marxist philosophy.

Development of Marxist Philosophy in China with Analysis of Its Modernity
    AN Qi-nian
    2005, (9):  9-12.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (294KB) ( )
Marx and Engel had rich resources of philosophical ideas. The changes of the times would push some of their ideas to the frontier of the philosophical agenda, and made other ideas of theirs manifestation of the spirit of the time. On the whole, owing to its rich resources and progress with the time, Marxist philosophy has maintained its modernity. However, it is still necessary for us to establish new theories of Marxist philosophy marked with modernity. As such philosophical theories will certainly contribute a lot to getting mankind out of the difficult situations today, they are regarded as the most modern philosophy. This is also where modernity of Marxist philosophy lies.

Rational Attitude toward Marxism in Modern Times
    YANG Xue-gong
    2005, (9):  16-20.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (814KB) ( )
With the end of the Cold War and new developments of globalization, Marxism and Marxist philosophy are faced with serious problems of meeting challenges and taking opportunities to survive and prosper in the moder era. Many scholars and theorists in the west hold a positive idea about the modern values of Marxism, thinking that it is still among the most active theoretical frames. Meanwhile, they try to analyze the challenges that face Marxism from the point of view of the changing objective external conditions, and the internal logical construct of Marxist theories. They discussed that what the "crisis" of Marxism indicated was a demand to revise and perfect Marxist theoretical frame in line with the new historical objective world and practical experiences, rather than signs that Marxism had outlived its time. As a matter of fact, the process of globalization has offered much room for Marxism to develop. We are confident that Marxism and Marxist philosophy will enter a new era of prosperity in response to the challenges and problems of globalization.

Marxist Philosophy and Western Philosophy: Enlarging the Scope and Defining the Theoretical Boundaries
    YANG Hai-feng
    2005, (9):  20-22.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (429KB) ( )
To achieve modern construction of philosophy of Marx it is necessary to refer to questions and challenges raised by modern philosophy in the west. It is also necessary to define the theoretical boundaries between the two, so that they are not mixed up in understanding and discussion. Only in this way can philosophy of Marx establish channels of dialogue with modern western philosophy, and clear up the logical medium that leads it to modern philosophy.

Concept of Economic Development of the Chinese Communist Party: Historical Progress and Implications
    WU Li
    2005, (9):  23-31.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1808KB) ( )
The author identifies four stages in the concept of economic development maintained by the Chinese Communist Party. They are as follows: the new democratic concept of development around the founding of the People’s Republic of China expressed in the document "Commen Guiding Principles"; the traditional socialist concept of development represented by the two "General Lines" between the years 1953 and 1977; the development concept of the primary stage of socialism in the name "development as the priority" raised in 1978 to 1996; scientific concept of development marked by "new industrialization" and the "human-development oriented ideas" since 1997. The progress in cognition and theories illustrates the Party’s deepening understanding of the Chinese situation and her character of developing with the time. It also reflects the complexity and hardship of the task of modernizing China.

State-owned Commercial Banks and Blocks to Transmitting Policies of Currency through Credits
    WANG Shu-zhen
    2005, (9):  32-39.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1171KB) ( )
The aothor points out that under circumstances of the present transitional economic system restricted by the immature marketing mechanism and limited scale of the financal market, we have to resort to the credits as the main channel of transmitting policies of currency. But in the actual operation, the channel for credit transmission is often blocked, which prevents the policies of currency from functioning effectively. The author argues that the direct cause for this problem lies in two aspects: centralized credits on the part of the state-owned commercial banks as the prinsipal organization of credit transmision, and the dual incentive mechanism in economy and politics within the state-owned commercial banks.

Political Science: From Classicism to Neo-Classicism
    YANG Guang-bin
    2005, (9):  40-48.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1525KB) ( )
In the continuous development of political science are both revolutional rebellions and inheritance. The classicist political studies established a legacy of wholism with the institution at the center and integrating the institution with values. Behaviorism and rational choice which rebell against the tradition, belong to the science of behavior from the perspective of individualism. The neo-institutionalism which centers around the institution shows characters of both wholism and individualism. It offers possibilities for integration of political studies, and may serve as a bridge to new classicist political science. New classicist political science include institution-centeredness, combination of political science and political philosophy, and integration of wholism and individualism as well.

Three Human Cultural Value Models from the Perspective of Ultimate Beliefs
    HUANG Hui-zhen
    2005, (9):  49-55.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1036KB) ( )
Freedom and harmony are common values of human beings. But at different developmental stages under different circumstances freedom and harmony are not always unified. Sometimes these two aspects can even be contradictory. Consequently, various models that are only partially justified arise. Among them are the western model of cultural values that considers freedom the ultimate values, emphasizing one aspect of human existence while ignoring the other; the Chinese model of cultural values that overemphasizes harmonious relation of the whole, wandering between existence and super-existence; and the Indian model of cultural values that seeks for excape from all responsibilities in the world for complete freedom and harmony. All this is determined by the completeness and basic conditions of human existence. This also explains the mechanism that enables various models of cultural values to change from conflicts to dialogue and communication.

    CHEN Jian , WANG Zhuo
    2005, (9):  56-60.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1425KB) ( )
The author points out that under circumstances of economic globalization, the Chinese economy and the Japanese economy have become so closely linked that one is heavily influenced by the other. In this sense, economic cooperation between the two will contribute to guarantee and extending strategic opportunities in favor of China, and will promote regional economic cooperation as well. Strengthening economic cooperation with Japan will result in mutual benefits, which may lessen the conflicts and disputes in politics, diplomacy and national feelings of the two peoples toward each other.

Interpreting the Economic and Trade Relation between China and India from a Strategic Perspective
    WEI Ling
    2005, (9):  61-66.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (992KB) ( )
For 55 years since China established normal diplomatic relation with India, the relation between the two has been characterized as "close political relation leads to close economic relation", and "cold political relation leads to cold economic relation". As both are developing countries with rapid development, there is still much room for economic cooperation. The author holds that promoting trade between China and India is a crucial step for us to open up the South Asian markets, to establish multiple markets and to realize our strategies of economic development. Besides, it will also result in stronger Chinese influence on the South Asian countries, and the strategies stabilize situations along the border line.

    XIN Ping
    2005, (9):  67-74.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1391KB) ( )
Cross-country relation is an important component part of a country’s foreign relaitons. With its heavy influennce on national states, it illustrates a long-term and complicated coexistence with the system of national states. The significace and long-term effectiveness of cross-country relation attribute to its strategic significance. If a government seeks for security and development of the country by means of great strategies, they cannot overemphasize the influence of cross-country relation. The best way to include cross-country relation into the great strategies is to decide on strategies that specifically address cross-country relation.
