“Three Representatives" and Construction of Chinese Communist Party in 21st Century
    LI Jun-ru
    2000, (8):  5-16.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1170KB) ( )
The “three representatives" raised by Jiang Zemin is a key to carrying out Deng Xiaoping’s political ideas. The concept is formed in response to new problems arising at the turn of the century that face the Party. Actually it is meant, in essence, to ensure that the Party maintains the advanced quality. The key point lies in the word “representative",maintains the extensiivt representation. The author points out that to adhere to this idea is not without difficulty. The worst problem is how to integrate the “three representatives". Emphasis should be put on the quality of the Party as pioneers of the working class. The author concludes that “three representatives" can serve as a guideline in Party construction.

Trend of State and Society in the Course of Modernization in China
    SUN Xiao-li
    2000, (8):  31-36.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (600KB) ( )
The state and the society are two different human organizations. However, due to various reasons people tend to mix up these two terms both in theory and in practice. The long time misunderstanding has led to an unbalanced relation between the state and the society, resulting in lack of self-independence in the society and insufficiency of authority in the state. The reform of government function in China aims to distinguish between personal interest and public right, and, therefore, determine both the proper mode of the function and areas in which the government are supposed to functions. This, the author maintains, will inevitably lead to further adjustment of the relation between the state and the society. Moreover, neither transformation of economic system or reform of political system can work well without the support of the legal system. And with the market as a media of this adjustment, a new relationship between the state and the society can be expected to take shape.

    QIN Xing-fang
    2000, (8):  37-43.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1059KB) ( )
It is common practice to adjust research angles of political economics in line with the change of social economy. In the case of adjusting research angles of Marxist political economics, the following points are worth mentioning. First, it is important to properly handle such relationships as the ones between “the changed" and “ the unchanged", between “fight" and “construct", between the essential economic relation and the economic phenomenon, between economic theory and economic policies. Second, political economics should be reconstructed at three hierarchical levels. Thirdly, the content of research should be put on the basic reality of the relation of economic system.

Relevant Field and Correlation: An Analysis of the Category of Interaction Raised by Marx and by Habermas
    ZHENG Zhao-li
    2000, (8):  44-49.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1031KB) ( )
When Habermas put forward his theory of human interactive behavior he had been enlightened by Marx’ idea of "social labor". But his theory is different from that of Marx with respect to internal relation between interactive behavior and production mode. Based on his own theory of interactive behavior Habermas attempted to "restructure" historical materialism. In his mode transitions from ideological philosophy to linguistic philosophy and from objective rationality to interactive rationality are realized. Although his theory of interactive behavior is at variance with Marxist relevant ideas it is of significance in studies of Marxism. It can be used for reference in widening the scale of research on Marxist theory of interaction, and in promoting more profound studies in issues of modernity.

Sovereign Rights at Times of Ecological Crisis
    XIAO Xian-jing
    2000, (8):  50-55.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (702KB) ( )
This article attempts to analyze the phenomenon that sovereign rights tend to be weakened in activities of environmental protection. The author points out that this weakening tendency does not necessarily mean an intrusion upon the sovereign right. On the contrary, it is imperative for protecting the environment of the country concerned and the globe as a whole. The author also criticizes the theory of “intruding upon the sovereign right" raised by some Western scholars in the name of environmental protection, refuting the excuses based on environmental protection for interfering with other country’s affairs.

    CHEN Jin long
    2000, (8):  62-68.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1020KB) ( )

Examples are cited to illustrate the author’s view points, and Mao Zedong’s attitude towards Sun Yisun is discussed.
