From Theory of Demand to Theory of Supply and The Implications
    LI Yi-ping
    2000, (3):  5-10.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (733KB) ( )
All the new developments in economic theories arise from interpretation of practical economic problems. The theory of demand management, for instance, was raised by Keynes under circumstances of wide spread economic depression, while the theory of supply was born of stagnation, the negative effect of Keynes economic policies. In China today, we do face problems concerning demand, but these problems seem to have taken root in problems of supply.

Historic Conception of Philosophy and Its Changes
    LI Shu-mei
    2000, (3):  17-23.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (597KB) ( )
Contemporary historic philosophy is speculative. It arbitrarily forms a set of abstract historic conceptions for all times. The author maintains that the change of historic conception in modern Western philosophy from historic ontology to historic epistemology is but a change in form. Marxist historic conception, however, is the one that has really gone through an essential change in historic conception.

On Two Models of Political Cognition
    CHENG Zhu-ru
    2000, (3):  24-28.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (508KB) ( )
This article summarizes various political conceptions that are representative in history. The author maintains that different political conceptions reflect understanding of the political essence of social relations. Two extreme answers to the same question are discussed. They are: does the essence of politics arise from relationship between different social groups or relationship between individuals and the group? The author then produces a political concept that transcends the two extremes on the basis of summarizing basic political categories of modern politics.

Ideology and Cause of the Cold War
    YANG Guang-bin
    2000, (3):  29-34.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (837KB) ( )
The dominating aspect of ideology in American foreign policy making is democratic capitalism, which became anti\|communist doctrines after the world wars. Evidence of this can be found in Truman doctrine, Mr. X and NSC-68, which are all important references for studying the cause of the cold war. On the other hand, due to complicated political procedures at home, heads of American governments tend to resort to political propaganda to overcome obstacles in order to get their policies legalized. Obviously, ideology can function as a useful means for this end. In this sense the cause of the cold war can be considered as a most classical case for studying the role ideology plays in American foreign affairs.

Schools of Socialism in 21st Century and Developmental Prospects
    YU Wen-lie, JIANG Hui
    2000, (3):  53-58.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (765KB) ( )
This article attempts to categorize socialism into socialism as a system and socialism as a value. The author holds that failure in Soviet Union, a country with one form of the socialist structure, does not necessarily mean that experiments with other forms of socialist structure will not succeed. On the other hand, the author points out, socialism as a kind of value has been existing everywhere, including in capitalist countries, taking shape and developing. With the struggle between the two systems going on and the change of times, different schools of socialism will enjoy different prospects in the 21st century.

    WANG Xu-tian
    2000, (3):  59-63.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (902KB) ( )
The impact of localism on politics and social development of the Republic of China was reflected in the following aspects. It existed side by side with the warlord politics. It functioned as a basis of faction politics. It brought about both harmful and beneficial effects on democratic politics. It appeared to be for and against nationalism, and served at times as obstacles or stimulus to modernization of the society intermittently. On the whole, it had more negative effects than positive ones.
