An Analysis of the Relationship between Chinese Marxist Philosophy and Chinese Tradition In the Light of ON PRACTICE and ON CONTRADICTION
    Chen Weiping
    1997, (7):  8-13.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1477KB) ( )
This article discusses the relationship between Marxist philosophy with Chinese characteristics and traditional Chinese culture in the light of the theories in ONPRACTICE and ON CONTRADICTION by Mao Zedong. The author holds that efforts should be made to study the influence of traditional Chinese culture on Chinese Marxist philosophy,as well as the historical course of coalescence of philosophy in the East and West before we can arrive at a profound understanding of the cultural backg round of Chinese Marxist philosophy.Attention should be directed to the links between conventions of the Chinese rural culture and Chinese Marxist philosophy. An explanation of the nature of duality in Chinese peasant culture may illustrate how Marxist philosophy came to fit into the Chinese cultural heritage which is,inessence,a culture of peasants.Comparative studies of Marx ist philosophy and traditional Chinese philosophy may lead to the views that Marxist philosophy is not only the generalization of philosophy in the West, but also that of Chinese traditional philosophy. In this sense,we may safely say that Chinese traditional philosophy has made its share of contribution to the founding and development of Marxist philosophy.

    Huang Taiyan
    1997, (7):  20-24.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (530KB) ( )
The relationship between the market and the government is a question of economic system. In other words,a choice of the relationship between the market and the government is in essence a decision on and a design for the economic system.Major factors that affect this relationship include social economic structure, inflexibility of the market, inflexibility of the government, consequence of development in the course of modernization, and elements concerning humanity. The design for our market-government relationship should consist of aspects generally found in any other countries or in any other mar ket economic systems, and those that can fit in with the situations in China in particular.

The School of Marxist Criticism in France is a newly developed radical leftist school of Marxism. It advocates application of criticism to studying Marxist theories and social realities.Seeing Marxism as a cultural phenomenon,a collectiv e phenomenon or a general phenomenon, members of this school believe that Marxism should be critical, open and developmental. This school has made contributions to the propaganda of Marxism and cultivation of Marxist researchers. But on the other hand, they have showed signs against Marxist philosophy.

Cause for Change in Joint State-Private agement in 1950s from Manners of Operation to Means of Reformation
    1997, (7):  40-43.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (623KB) ( )
This article holds that there were two causes for turning the industrial joint state-private management in 1950s from manners of operation to means of reformation. They are objective ones and subjective ones. For the objective ones, the private companies were facing serious problems which made it hard to develop, including severe conflicts between labor and management inside the companies and harsh environment for survival outside;shortage of raw materials and capital;unde-rcapacity operation;to name only a few. However,it was the subjective ones that were vital. The development of private companies was not in line with the governments strategy of giving heavy industry the priority in development. Therefore, the development of private companies was seen to be contradicting with the Partys goal for social economic development.

Comments on Western Contemporary Definition of Transaction Costs
    1997, (7):  49-54.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (907KB) ( )
The new economics offers a variety of transaction costs which can be classified for the sake of comprehensive analysis and criticism.First of all,the definition limited to the function of market price:This definition only vaguely explains that transaction costs belong to the category of cost, but fails to elaborate on its components or function, which leads to a confusion of the connotative differences in transaction costs and information costs, and thus incurring criticism ag ainst the Principle of Coase from all sides.Secondly, the definition meant to be applied to organizations of all kinds of market economy:This definition stresses comparative studies of different systems. While it has solved various problems brought about by Coase in his earlier definition of transaction costs,it displays such defects as lacking operational feasibility, and therefore can not be used to analyze the dynamic innovation achievement of an enter prise. Finally, the definition meant to cover all human systems:This one is superior to all the earlier ones. But still it has its own shortcomings, for it has left many problems unsolved.A case in point is contradiction in logic when dealing with system efficiency.Besides, its behaviorist theory gives rise to ig norance of many political categories in the framework of costbenefit analysis. What is more,it can easily fall into the dilemma of historical functionalism since it is unable to precisely describe mechanics in the course of systemic changes.
