Reflections on the Abstract Forces in Real Life Situations ——An Important Issue in Localization of Marxism in China HE Lai 2012, 47 (10):  5-10.  DOI: Abstract ( )   The key to promoting localization of Marxist philosophy in China is seeking the internal link between Marxist philosophy and the real existence condition of the Chinese people. Thus, the important point of departure and route to this end is through critical reflections on the real and potential abstract forces with the characters mentioned above, and striving to obtain control over these forces. During this process, efforts should be made to pursue our ideal happy life. The true motives for localization of Marxist philosophy in China are its spirit of critical reflection that directly addresses the abstract forces that govern man, and indepth analyses of it so as to promote self-understanding and selfawareness of our own existence. On “Chinese Modernity” and the Contemporary Value of Marx's Idea of Modernity XI Ge 2012, 47 (10):  11-17.  DOI: Abstract ( )   Exploring and activating Marx's idea of modernity is the practical demand of the Chinese social development and objective requirement of developing socialism characteristic of the Chinese style. The contemporary value of Marxs idea of modernity lies in the fact that its problem awareness, research methodology and theory may guide and inspire the development of socialism characteristic of the Chinese style. To grasp the contemporary value of Marx's idea of modernity in the Chinese context we should grasp the “particularity” of China's modern construction, creatively transform Marxs' ideological resources, and respond to challenges from contemporary popular thoughts like “antimodernity” and “westernization”, and reasonably clarify the right development destination of socialist modernity characteristic of the Chinese style. On Characters of Price Variation of Chinas Agricultural Products with Attribution Analysis ZHANG Li-Xiang, CHEN Xiu-Lan 2012, 47 (10):  18-25.  DOI: Abstract ( )   The year 2004 witnessed a change in prices of China's agricultural products from a smooth low running to an obvious upturn. After 2007, the overall trend of price rise quickened to an annual average of 11 percent because of the combined effect of rising production cost, tight balance of demand and supply, surplus supply of cash and emergencies. Among the products, the annual amplitude variation of cotton, vegetable and fruit were relatively smaller, while those of the soybeans, soybean oil and meat were large. In the long run, this rising trend will still be pushed forward by the tight demandsupply balance and the rigid rising cost of agricultural product. But in the short term, prices of three important grain products will be within control thought still rising steadily, while the prices of oil and cotton products are more easily affected by the international market. The cyclical rise of the price of meat has approached the peak value, while prices of vegetables and fruits show great uncertainty. Related Articles | Metrics

On the Theoretical Self-esteem, Self-confidence and Self-consciousness of Marxism CHEN Xi-Xi 2012, 47 (10):  26-33.  DOI: Abstract ( )   To cultivate high level cultural self-awareness and self-confidence it is required that Marxist theoretical self-esteem, self-confidence and self-consciousness be emphasized. Marxist theoretical self-esteem refers to a faith in the indelible contemporary value of Marxist principles from the view point of both the world and China. Marxist theoretical self-confidence points to the fact that Marxism is relatively more advantageous over other theories, not only in terms of the contents of the various theories but, more importantly, in terms of its paradigm and characters. From the Logic of Capital to the Logic of the Body ——Another Interpretation of Marx's Philosophy YAN Lian-Fu 2012, 47 (10):  34-41.  DOI: Abstract ( )   Marx's philosophy can be defined as either practical philosophy or physical philosophy. Young Marx was extremely concerned with the physical dilemma of existence. He identified four types of physical alienation, namely, being alienated to machine, to animal flesh, to commodity, and to an object against nature. The cause for physical alienation is just the prevalence of the logic of capital. The logic of capital as a logic that over emphasizes the unique importance of production  would inevitably lead to alienation of the body to machine. The logic of capital as a type of desiredriven logic would inevitably lead human body to animal flesh. The logic of capital is a logic of fetishism, which would inevitably view human body as commodity to be exchanged. The logic of capital is also against nature, which would lead to estrangement of human being from nature. To get rid of the logic of capital we must return to the physical logic, that is, return to life, to production, to needs and to aesthetics.    Related Articles | Metrics

The Hierarchical Characteristics of the Working Class in Developed Countries since 1970s SUN Shou-Tao, GU Zi-Li 2012, 47 (10):  42-51.  DOI: Abstract ( )   The progress of information technology since the 1970s has led to the hierarchical evolution of the working class in developed capitalist countries. Within the working class there appeared new distinction of centraledge groups known as the group with standard employment and the group with nonstandard employment. While the socalled nonstandard form of employment in the “new economy” of the 1990s had functioned to reduce the rate of unemployment, it actually meant a reduction of the status of the working class. On China's Domestic Coordination Capacity of Public  Diplomacy: Problems and Options HUANG Zhong-1, TANG Xiao-Song-2 2012, 47 (10):  52-59.  DOI: Abstract ( )   Apart from the traditionally recognized factors that affect domestic coordination capacity of public diplomacy, public diplomacy is also restricted by the vitality of the social system and management system, the domestic moral image, and the capacity to shape values of the country at the specific period of time. The authors hold that efforts have to be made to improve Chinas public diplomacy. Among the things to be done are giving the advantages of the socialist system its full role in public diplomacy, matching domestic moral image with public diplomacy,  and optimizing the value orientation to provide sufficient identity support for public diplomacy. Therefore, it is necessary to promote further reform in China to establish a peaceful, stable and prosperous situation as the primary drive for further progress in public diplomacy. Construction of moral image should be improved, management of public opinion should be changed, integration of national and international issues should be strengthened, the influence of the moral credibility in public diplomacy should be enhanced, the ability to shape values should be raised. The U.S. Debt Problem and Its Impact on Sino-U.S. Relations SUN Hai-Yong, LI Qing-Si 2012, 47 (10):  60-66.  DOI: Abstract ( )   In recent years, the U.S. federal debt has drawn increasing concerns from foreign owners of the U.S. treasure bonds. Although the Obama administration has taken steps to cut the budget deficit of the federal government to reduce the pressure from the debt problem, the huge debt has posed threat to asset security of holders of the debt such as China. Being the largest foreign owner of the US treasure bonds, China has also upset the US for worries of their national security. However, as China has little leverage over the US in the debt issue, this does not restrict the US action. The issue of US debt has also indirectly intensified the SinoUS trade conflicts and the controversy over the RMB exchange rate. The paper concludes that the mutual dependence of China and the US on the issue of debt will exist for a long time. It will leave farreaching impact on the SinoUS relations. Attribution Analysis of Textbook Controversies ——with a Review of Censoring History NIE Lu 2012, 47 (10):  67-73.  DOI: Abstract ( )   Through a review of the book Censoring history the author explained four causes that had led to the controversy over the Japanese, German and American textbooks. After defining the concept of textbook controversy from the national and international dimensions, the paper discussed the political and social factors of the three countries that had influenced the textbook controversy respectively from the perspectives of mechanism of textbook production, changes in citizen identification, changes in international relations, and design of foreign strategies. It should occupy the network cultural front proactively and keep on raising its own voice in the Internet culture. Emphases should be put on getting familiarized with the Internet cultural discourse, and much has to be done in analyzing, innovating, spreading and controlling the Internet cultural discourse. To achieve these goals, great efforts should be made in the following areas: construction of network information technology, design of Internet cultural discourse, wide spread of Internet cultural discourse, active participation in discourse confrontation in Internet culture, and improvement of the discourse effectiveness of online ideological and political education. A Review of Recent Studies in Ecology of Ideological and Political Education YANG Zeng-Dong 2012, 47 (10):  82-88.  DOI: Abstract ( )   Referring to ecological theory and method in comprehensive studies of ideological and political education is a new research area. At present, there are two types of such studies. The first type applies relevant ecologic theory and idea in their studies. These studies are few but with marked by crossdisciplinary features. The majority belongs to the second type which simply refers to the implied ecological world outlook, methodology and values in studies of ideological and political education. The major themes include the following: the concept and framework of ecology of ideological and political education, the value and necessity of introducing the research perspective of ecological analysis into ideological and political education, implications of ecological analysis for ideological and political education and so on.
