    1999, (5):  5-12,80.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (817KB) ( )
The 3rd Plenary Conference of the 11th Party Congress of the Communist Party of China in 1978 has paved the way for development in socialism, success in reform of economic system, and promotion of opening up to the outside world. It was Deng Xiaoping, founder of modern China, who had directed China into the course of socialism characteristic of the Chinese style, and made great contribution to China’s social and economic development. Remarkable social and economic attainment has been achieved in China since 1978. An evidence of this is the fact that China was able to maintain steady and continued economic growth and guaranteed value of RMB in the face of the disastrous flood at home on top of the financial crisis in Asia. With such tremendous attainment China will find herself at the threshhold of the 21st century.

Research Group of Institute of World Socialism, Central Bureau of Compilation and Translation
    1999, (5):  37-45.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (966KB) ( )
This article offered a comprehensive analysis of the progress and theoretical trend of West Europe socialism, the communists not included,in the 1990s. This analysis is composed of three factors:First,an acount of the cause, process, essence and influence of democratic socialism, from its crisis to its revival;Second, track of development and revolution in the general principles of the Labor Party in Britain, the Social Democratic Party in Germany, the Social Party in France, the Left wing Democratic Party in Italy and the European Social Party since 1990s;Third,some leftist intellectuals’ introspection and exploration of experience in socialist movement, current circumstances and ideal models of socialism (the intellectuals in question are those who have no links with any particular factions). These factors put together illustrated the current state of European Socialism. Based on all this, the author maintained that having undergone a period of loss in the late 1980s and early 1990s,adjustment,innovation and revival in mid and the latter part of the 1990s,democratic socialism and related schools of socialism have now entered another significant period of revolution since the 1950s.

Trace of Deconstruction-Survey of the French Post-structuralism
    Yang Dachun
    1999, (5):  51-57,80.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1250KB) ( )
Having studied the course of development of the French post-structuralism this article concluded that post-structuralism,as introspection of structuralism, took a stronger position in criticizing conventional philosophy and theories of literary criticism. It de-constructed the structuralist concepts that were once regarded as revolutionary models. At the same time,as an extreme view of structualist linguistics it ventured to deconstructed the textual world and resisted theories to the extent of signifier’s games. In an attempt to reject metaphysics,it proposed a breakthrough of the traditional model of dualism, deconstruct the boundary of philosophy and literature, and advocated "end of philosophy"as well. It inherited the structualist theme of "decentralization",but apart from the structuralist approach of emphasizing the structure and explicitness of the meaning by way of "the writer is dead",it used this to illustrate a spread of the textual meaning.
