Exploration into socialist business management system characteristic of the Chinese style is an important part of Deng Xiaoping’s economic. The construction of this theory was based on comparative studies, that is,diachronic study of our business management at present and in history, and synchronic study of our economic system with those operating in other countries. The core of Deng Xiaoping’s theory in business management lies in reforming the method of management. The reform of economic management modes is the key content for establishing socialist economic management system with Chinese characteristics. Deng Xiaoping had probed into two basic aspects of economic management, namely, the reform of the state's administration modes for enterprises, and the reform of enterprise's own management modes. Meanwhil,he had also emphasized the close relations between political system reform and economic system reform.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (1127KB) ( )
“Where is China heading for?” Throughout the 20th century three answers to this question have been suggested. The first one is a liberal view of complete Westernization. The second is a conservative view for the revival of Confucianism. And the third one is Marxist view of synthetic innovation. The Chinese Communists have always been adhering to the third view. It started with Mao Zedong’s idea of eclectic method and new democracy in 1940s.In 1980s Deng put forward his policy of opening up to the outside world and setting up socialism characteristic of the Chinese style, which represents the mainstream thought as well as the right direction of modernization of culture. The Chinese culture in the 21st century will aim at constructing a new socialist civilization characteristic of the Chinese style with ten important historic innovations. The 21st century will find a powerful, affluent, democratic, civilized and socialist modern China, with novel systems of values and methodolgy,“Great vessels will be long in completion”. But the modern renaissance of a new form of Chinese civilization will make great contribution to formation of a new civilization in the world.

    Revolution and Modernization
    Zhang Jing-ru
    1997, (5):  18-23,63,64.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (956KB) ( )
Between social revolution and modernization of the society is the bridge of liberation and development of productive forces. This can be illustrated as follows: After the old production relations are smashed by social revolution, productivity is liberated and then developed, which will lead to modernization of the society. This kind of relation is generally referred to as a pre requisite relation. This article, however, holds a different view. According to the author, the relation between revolution and modernization is one of mutual containing:that is, social revolution is one of the steps in the process of modernization. In the global scene, modernization of capitalist countries had been intimately linked with capitalist revolutions. In the same sense, the Chinese democratic revolution and socialist revolution are of an indispensable period in the process of modernization of China.

    Wu Xiang-hong, Liu Da-chun
    1997, (5):  24-27,64.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1003KB) ( )
With the development of contemporary scie technical productive force unifying science, technology and society, and thus bringing the artificial nature to function as the direct foundation of social life, scie technical revolutions tend to take the form of social reforms. As the basic feature of modern world, the trend of scie technical revolutions is manifested in terms of information, ecology and globalizaion. This new development of productivety has justified the basic predictions of Marxism concerning human history once again. Now that the distribution of power has undergone fundamental changes in which knowledge is upgraded to become the first productive force, new approaches should be attempted in order to apply Marxism in solving various social problems, especially contradictions between capitalist countries and socialist countries, and contradictions between developed countries and developing countries.

Deterioration in the Construction of Legal System after 1957
    Xu Fu-qun
    1997, (5):  28-32,63.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1116KB) ( )
Over involvement in the anti rightist struggle around 1957 and development of its guideline, the “left” opportunism, severely handicapped and deteriorated construction of the legal system in the latter part of 1950s. This deterioration was manifested in three aspects:retrogression of the Party in recognizing the importance of setting up a legal system;stagnation in legislation; and a departure from the proper course in administration of justice. The fundamental causes for these lie in the absence of economic or social needs for a legal system then. In contrast with that situation, the People’s Republic of China in the era of reform and open up to the world has entered the threshold of rapid development of constructing the legal system. The revelation we receive from all this is that construction of legal system must be based on construction of socialist market economy and going hand in hand with political reforms.
