Abstract: In recent years, American scholar Fred Mosley, Chinese scholar Meng Jie and Korean scholar Rieu DongMin have involved into a series of arguments around the “Monetary Expression of Labor Time” (MELT) in “Review of Radical Political Economics”. By combing these debates, this paper argues that one of the reasons for the controversy is that different scholars have different definitions of MELT, while the other difference includes whether MELT is related to the realization of surplus value. On the one hand, these controversies are differences arising from defining differences , on the other hand, these are also related to how to expand MELT to the concrete level, and the basic theory of Marx through statistical data. This is of great significance for the development of MELT and the development of Marxs basic theory.
