Philosophical Perspective On the Resources of Land and Capital
    Liu Jing-lu
    2003, (6):  45-50.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (525KB) ( )
As resources, both land and capital are constituents of human economic activities. Although land is of social characteristic, it plays its role mainly as natural source and influences human economic and other activities by this dimension. On the contrary, although capital comes originally from some transformation of natural resources, it is essentially one sort of social resource and remolds human development fundamentally as a social force. That capital took the place of land to become the leading resource marked the historical transition from natural economy to commodity economy.

An Analysis of the Trendency in the Change of Real Wages of American Workers——A Redical Institutional Perspective
    LIU Ying
    2003, (6):  56-61.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (895KB) ( )
Since the 1970s the real wage of the American workers in manufacturing industry has been declining. To explain this phenomenon the mainstream economists resort to the traditional theory of relationship between supply and demand, and have proposed two explanations. One attributes this to changes in requirement for skills by the economy, resulting in "a mismatch of skills". The other attributes the decline of wage and unbalanced increase to globalization. Both explanations have obvious limitations. However, the attribution to institutional factors by scholars on the radical camp sounds more reasonable. The author concludes that the institutional factors are the crucial causes for the decline of the real wage of the American workers in manufacturing industry.

On the Local Political Consciousness during the Period of the Republic of China
    WANG Xu-Tian
    2003, (6):  62-68.  DOI:
    Abstract ( )   PDF (2127KB) ( )
The local political consciousness in the period of the Republic of China refers to the viewpoints and claims of the provincial blocs and their representatives on the national political structure, political life, especially the constitution, the distribution of power and interests between the central and local government and other important political issues. It is the consequence of failure in solving conflicting wills and interests between the central and local government. As for the basic structure, it admits the state authority but bases on an anti-centrality consciousness that stresses the local freedom and autonomy with self-protection and expansion as its dynamic feature. Its essence reflects the pursuit of extension of interests and actualization of political values. Though its existence was independent only to a certain degree, it is not only the manifestation of the local psyche in political life, but also functions as preliminary acts for local political actions.
