Abstract:

Globalization，emerging in the late 20th century，is a new social movement in a time of transition. However，many researchers have traced globalization back to the modern history or earlier，even it is argued that the whole history of human beings can be named globalization. These misinterpretations would not only affect our understanding of globalization negatively，but also hinder our efforts to take reasonable actions in the era of globalization and even might make us give up the effort to deal with challenges of globalization through innovations of thinking and action. Historically，it is the global consciousness emerging in the mid20th century that gave rise to the generation of globalization as a concept and a movement as well. Technological innovations in the 20th century，implying a trend of decentralization，accumulated into qualitative change in the late 20th. In particular，the Internet technology came into being，suggesting a future of decentralization which is also the goal of globalization.
