Abstract: The governance researchers in China should have the theoretical consciousness of studying the Chinese governance story, diagnosing the Chinese governance problems, and improving the Chinese governance qualityGovernance scholars could not integrate the governance theory and context in China which resulted in drawing the conclusions from the incomplete dataBased on the ontological framework, diagnosis and design perspective, we proposed an interface governance framework for analyzing governance phenomena in ChinaInterface governance framework tried to construct an artificial science of governance and focused on the governance interface, internal structure, external environment and functions to explain and design governance practiceFrom the perspective of interface governance framework, China now set up the goal of modernization of governance systems and capacity, formed the horizontal governance interface of politics, economy, society, culture, and ecology, constructed the vertical governance interface of global, provincial and local level, developed some mixed governance interfaces, and innovated cogovernance approaches to support the internal structuresIn the future, China should march toward the resilience, robustness, and adaptability of multiple governance interfaces
