Abstract: In the historical materialist discourse system of critiquing capital logic,the narrative logic of time over space cannot prove the absence of space dimension.With the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, Housing, which should be the living space of human beings, is painted with a layer of ideology and has been becoming a field of capitalist space production and surplus value extraction. By analyzing social problems such as housing shortages, The Housing Question focused on the private nature of the capitalist social space, the imbalanced social order and the dilemma of human existence under the capitallogic.Based on the four paths of history, structure, criticismand value, the article explains the internal consistency between the residential space form and social development, the organic unity of natural space and social space, the micro perspective of reflecting on capitalist social space and the pursuit of residential harmony and space justice. Revisiting the classics not only helps to deal with the theoretical criticism of the space shortage of historical materialism, but also makes the historical materialist discourse of “production mode” diagnose practical problemsbetter, when responding to the theoretical spatial turn. Besides, it is also conducive to constructing a reasonable spatial order and guaranteeing the reasonable human rights to space resourcesfrom the reality,so as to make the housing return to the essence of living, highlight the social nature of human and realize the survival vision of free and comprehensive development of human beings.
