To solve the crisis of neoliberalism and transcend the neoliberal order, Gerard Dumenil and Dominique Levy, two Western leftist scholars, have proposed the solution of “new managerial capitalism”. It advocates the use of the state power and the reliance on the socalled managerial class to regulate and suppress the financial parasitic class, in order to contain the financialization of capitalism and facilitate the return of financial capitalism to industrial capitalism. This solution is somewhat progressive, but lacks a profound understanding of the relations between financial capital and industrial capital as well as the inner contradictions in and the trend of the accumulation of financial capital. In addition, it does not show indepth insights into the nature of the managerial class. It also bypasses a core issue of socialism, namely the nationalization of financial capital. Therefore, it is essentially a capitalist reformist plan.
