Abstract: As was made clear in the speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the conference celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the ultimate theme in the history of the CPC over the past 100 years, which provides a frame of reference for expanding the vision in the CPC history research. Interpretations of the historical stages, achievements, status, experiences of the CPC and the historical connections between the CPC history and the world history give guidance for obtaining a general picture of the CPC history. The research paradigm of the “history of China's national rejuvenation” centering on the ultimate theme of the centenary history of the CPC can not only include the “revolutionary history paradigm” and the “modernization paradigm”, but also present an overall understanding of the CPC history and highlight its historical theme. The clarification of the theme of the CPC's centenary history can serve as a reference in establishing the themes of the modern and contemporary history of China, the history of the People's Republic of China, the history of reform and opening up, and the history of socialism.
