Abstract: The “socialism” prefix of socialist ecological civilization is by no means an unintentional，optional rhetoric, but reflects our ideological point of ecological civilization, and is an important performance in our path, in our theories and in our system Be analyzed from a comparative perspective, the “socialism” meaning of ecological civilization embodies in three areas: comparing the environmental conditions in the capitalist countries and socialist countries, the understanding that capitalist ecological civilization is an oxymoron; comparing different construction ways of ecological civilization, defining that the guiding ideology of Marxism; comparing the public ownership with the private ownership, defining  that not only adhere to public ownership of natural resources and sound natural resource assets property rights system, while maintaining the socialist nature of state ownership
