Abstract: The Great Disruption: Human Nature and the Reconstitution of Social Order written by Francis Fukuyama explores the inharmonious social factors under the American capitalist system in the information era from the perspectives of crime,family and trust.Having analyzed the account offered by the left-wing and the right-wing for the disruption,Fukuyama claims that the great disruption is in essence caused by technological progress,and that the thoughts of individualism and the decline of traditional family structure are destructive forces,too.Fukuyama believes that the great disruption leads to loss of social capital,so the countermeasure lies in increasing the social capital,and American capitalism is capable of doing this.As a speaker of "the end of history" Fukuyama attempts to maintain and repair capitalism.However,there exist potential and evident crises in modern capitalism.Fukuyama’s concern with the disruption in the information era shows a certain degree of foresightedness with some implications.
