Abstract: Globalization has an inherent tendency of unicity and homogeneity. This has resulted in revival of nationalism, which, in turn, has given rise to waves of anti globalization. As nationality is far more deeply rooted than globalization, it is neither realistic nor possible to advocate globalization without consideration of characteristics of specific nationality. The author points out that being the common core and soul of culture, philosophy can best reflect the scope of both the universal and the national. Thus, it becomes the focus of discussion between cultural universalism and specialism. The article also analyzes and evaluates the debate over justification of a Chinese philosophy among the academic circle.
