Abstract: This article attempts to specify three major themes of ideological and political education in modern China, and suggests “three benefits" as criteria for evaluation of its effect. Ten relationships concerning ideological and political education are identified and ten principles are explained. The author points out that an approach to constructing socialist spiritual civilization with Chinese characteristics has already taken shape in China, which can serve as theoretical guidelines for the actual practice of ideological and political education.
