Abstract: This article summarizes the Western public selection theory and its three schools with description of their differeces.The three schools are Rochester School,Chicago School,and Virginia School.The author maintains that strongly characteristic of a shade of liberalism and individualism.public selection theory is at fault in its assumption of economic broker in political activities, its denial of necessary government interference and its naive hope in constitutional reform.However,public selection theory helps us see through the veil of democratic politics and market economy in the West.Besides,some understanding of this theory provides food for thought in our effort to strive for reforms in economic and political systems.
