It is also necessary to define the theoretical boundaries between the two, so that they are not mixed up in understanding and discussion. Only in this way can philosophy of Marx establish channels of dialogue with modern western philosophy, and clear up the logical medium that leads it to modern philosophy. The author holds that in the composition of cognition the self and the non-individual inter-subjectivity are of identical construct. This functions as both the context for sense of practice and the basis of cognition characteristic of individual rationality. As a matter of fact, Marx’ criticism of old materialism has made his theory of materialism conform to dialectics, adding critical implications to materialism, and thus distinguishing his theory of criticism from that of ethical criticism. In this sense, the author concludes, regarding Marxist philosophy as metaphysic in order to gain new intensity of criticism has been the result of misinterpretation of Marxist philosophical materialism.
