Effectiveness of international institutions is a fundamental theme in the study of international institutions.It is an essential theory of global governance.As the meaning of effectiveness is rather complicated,it is necessary to clarify the concepts related to the effectiveness of international institutions.The study of institutional effectiveness includes classifications,evaluation criteria and affective factors.Now it is challenged by epistemology and methodology,and is trapped in the dilemma of theory and reality.The paper presents a brief discussion of the future research tendency,and concludes that more profound researches on the effectiveness of international institutions are called on.
