Robert Nozick, who is a right-wing liberalist, put forward an influential argument against socialism in his famous book "Anarchy,State and Utopia".He claimed that maintenance of socialist equality could be achieved only at the expense of freedom. Therefore, socialist equality was unjustified.Being aware of the harm of this statement,G.A.Cohen,a leading representative of the contemporary analytic school of Marxism, made an effective rebuttal against this false thesis by referring to political philosophy, and thus defended the desirability of socialism in terms of the perspective of value norms.
