Historical Course and Characteristics of Mao Zedong Studies in China

The study of Mao Zedong thought in China has experienced four stages. They are the stage of initiation, the stage of extension, the stage of frustration and the stage of maturity. Each stage is marked by striking characteristics of the time. Three general characteristics of Mao Zedong studies are identified in this article. First, these studies have been developing side by side with the progression of Mao Zedong thought itself. Second, studies and propaganda of Mao Zedong thought have maintained an interactive pattern. Finally, objective, fair, complete and profound research is a sign of maturity of the studies of Mao Zedong thought.
