The moving stories in the rescue work of Wenchuan earthquake and the bright smiles and excellent services in the Beijing Olympic Games have resulted in a profound understanding of volunteerism.The behaviors of the volunteers have moved China and the world by showing the value of volunteerism.The authors point out that in the course of constructing a harmonious socialist society it is necessary to do in-depth researches of volunteerism to further develop the ideas of and the approach to organizing volunteer work.This may contribute to gradual improvement of our volunteer system and bring the volunteer mechanism to perfection.In this way,volunteerism can be expected to play a more profound role.
