On Historical Relevance of Modern Social Changes and Cultural Transformation——A Review of "Social Structural Changes and Modern Cultural Transformation"

Through an examination of the historical course of modern social structural changes,the paper proposed a completely new research perspective.Based on an analysis of the historical course and characters of modern social structural changes,the author identified four historical phases of the modern cultural transformation and explained the basic connotation and characters of the cultural transformation in each historical phase.In the light of a systematic summary of the academic history,the author raised major issues to be focused on in studies of the Chinese modern social changes and cultural transformation.Preliminary considerations in the basic theories were presented and a new approach to further studies in this field was suggested.The author claimed that more profound studies of the basic theories,contents and methodology for studying the modern Chinese social changes and cultural transformation should be undertaken.
