The Southeast Asian countries have been the focus of the attention of major big powers because of their specific geographical position and varied political systems.Thus,when China deals with issues of international relations they are of specific significance.China is the first country to propose a series of basic IR principles,new theories and new policies in the process of handling relations with these countries,and these principles,new theories and new policies have gradually gained worldwide acceptance.Cases in point include "the five principles of peaceful coexistence","shelving disputes and seeking joint development","maintaining friendship and partnership with neighboring countries","promoting harmony,security and prosperity among neighbors",the concept of "harmonious world",and the strategy of "opening to cooperation for mutual benefit".All this reflects the innovation and development of Marxist IR theories.
