He criticized Rawls’ distribution theory on the basis of this theory, which demonstrates that the orientation of his theory is individual rights. However, Nozick has totally neglected the importance of equality. Thus, he is not aware of the importance of coordination of justice in social cooperation. It has been developing ever since its start in the latter half of the 19th century in response to the dilemma of ancient utilitarianism. The development from ancient ethics to modern ethics marks the rise of irrationalist theory of will, as well as meta-ethics and motionlist from existentialism and modern empiricism. This discipline is now at its third stage of development, which is a period of variety. At this stage, the three normal ethics are popular, and the applied ethics prevails. Traditionally the power of law and ethics rests with the family and the society in which duties are over-emphasized and rights of individuals eliminated. However,in market economy mutual acknowledgement and mutual respect is a pre-requisite. Therefore,there arise concepts of ethics that value honesty and trust and system of law that protects the economy of honesty and trust. The principle of exchange at equal value rests on respect of individual rights. And it is on the same basis that the modern law system is formed. The modern law is subject to the relevant economic system,and the ethics belongs to the economic system in which it is found. Likewise,the ethical basis of market economy lies in recognition of respect in general and special benefits in particular,which consists of basic values of economic and social lives. As long as evaluation of social ethics is concerned, the article maintains, the “theory of cost” fails to recognize dialectically antinomy of economy and ethics, the “theory of landslide” and “theory of climbing” diverge in understanding of ethnic tendency of market economy, while “theory of ethical demoralization” implies that there is room for logical exploration in normalization and regularization of ethics. As for views concerning human characters in activities of market economy, “theory of landslide” distinguishes “economic person” and “ethical person”. “Theory of climbing”, on the other hand, emphasizes that sense of citizenship based on market economy is one of the major support of modern ethics. With regard to requirement of moral criterion under market economy, both “import” and “intraconnection” are partially right. The modern society should make close inspection of the principles of fairness and utility, placing principles of economic ethics and other social ethics appropriately. When it comes to views over basic ethics under market economy, the article advocates conformity of individual interests to general interests of the society, market collectivism as the author puts it. Research in new ethical issues such as humanitarian, justice, balance of economy, politics and ethics, and multi-subjectivity and multi-values should all be stressed.
