Based on a review of the current situation and findings of researches on international relation in China for the past 20 years, the author proposed that the key problem to be solved concerning China’s international relations is "what kind of theories on international relation do we need". The author then classifies international relation theories into two types, namely, theories of logics and theories of interests. The author holds that it is the responsibility of researchers on international relation in China to establish international relation theories of logics.

Among the findings of studies in China’s foreign policies, the ones from the perspective of political studies are insufficient. In this sense, reinforcing political studies of China’s foreign policies is both a new demand of China’s diplomacy and a new research topic in China’s international relations and diplomatic studies with obvious theoretical, academic and policy-making significance. This article then proposes a preliminary research framework that embraces the structure and process of domestic political system, and top political leaders as well.

After the Cold War, with the changes in international and regional security, China has adopted multiliteral strategies for a secure neighborhood. By analyzing two cases of bordering affairs in which multiliteral strategies were applied the author holds that China’s participation in practice of multiliteralism is meant for maintaining her own benefits as well as to help establish an international mechanism represented by a new concept of security.

National identity and national interests is constructed by international political culture. This is the principal idea of the school of constructivism with Alexander Wendt as its representative. This paper attempts to examine the construction mechanism by means of the principal theoretical hypothesis Wendt. Generally Speaking, international norms constructing national interests will go over three stages, namely, origin, socialization, int ernalization.Nevertheless, prerequisite requirements will have to be met before national interests can be successfully constructed.
