    The paper discusses disciplinary awareness of "comparative ideological and political education" based on a retrospection of its curriculum development and its development course of research with reference to disciplines such as comparative education,comparative literature,comparative philosophy and comparative political studies.The four research subjects,three characters,four development stages and four research paradigms of this discipline are explained.

    Knowledge of the ideological and political education in various countries may help us gain a profound understanding of its positive function,nature and regularity in the course of modernization.Ideological and political education in the modern world has experienced three development stages with six major features and tendencies.Researches into its experience and existing problems may shed light on improvement of ideological and political education in China.

    Generally speaking the philosophical background of ideological and political education in the world today is humanity oriented.The author points out that while interpreting the values of education there is a tendency of applying both rationalist and functionalist theories,and the research model of moral education moves in the direction of positivism.The author maintains that under multi culture circumstances the emphasis on cultivation of moral cognitive ability belongs to “the third road” in the Western theory of moral education.The major research area in juvenile work is sociology.Both optimistic and pessimistic on clusions exert a strong influence on policy making in various countries.Political education and “socialization of politics” is one of the hot issues in the study of politics.Studies on its concepts,meaning and progress,therefore,becomes very significant.
