Abstract: The basic of role of The May Forth and New Culture Movement to the construction of Chinese modern new culture is mainly manifested in the following four aspectsFirstly,it gradually deepened the Chinese peoples understanding of western cultureSecondly it destroyed the Chinese traditional culture system represented by the Confucianism and determined democracy and science as the core value of the construction of modern Chinese new cultureThirdly it put forward the idea of constructing the modern new culture of China with individualism as the basisFourthly,it suggested the way of constructing the modern Chinese new culture by researching problems,introducing Western learning and sorting out the traditions

摘要： 五四新文化运动对中国现代新文化建构的奠基作用，主要体现在四个方面：一是国人对西方文化认识逐渐深化，确定了全面效法西方以建构中国现代新文化的方向和“再造文明”的目标；二是摧毁了以儒家思想为代表的中国固有文化体系，动摇了中国传统的核心价值观念，确定了以民主与科学作为中国现代新文化建构的核心价值；三是提出了以个性主义为建构中国现代新文化基石的思路；四是提出了以研究问题、输入西学、整理国故来建构中国现代新文化的途径。
