Abstract: As a concentrated manifestation of the bourgeoisies transfer of contradictions abroad, imperialism has an important impact on the direction of the major changes unseen for a century that the world today is undergoing. The differences between the existing concepts of “imperialism” in terms of time, level and moral evaluation are rooted in the changes in the phenomenon of imperialism and the differences in the dimensions of researchers understanding. In order to effectively bridge the differences in the study of imperialism, it is necessary to reconceptualize the term “imperialism” at the metatheoretical level. By examining imperialism in the process of changing contradictions in capitalist society, it can be found that imperialism is a phenomenon in which the bourgeoisie transfers contradictions abroad through different carriers in order to safeguard their own class interests and solve the contradictions in capitalist society. Imperialism runs through the entire process of capitalist development, and the bourgeoisie dominates the evolution of imperialism. Promoting the common development of all mankind and narrowing the development gap between developed capitalist countries and developing countries will accelerate the decline of the imperialismdominated world system and push the world system towards a more just and reasonable direction.
